CONTACT USWe’ve answered some of the most common fuel delivery, heating, and air conditioning questions we receive from customers below. Don’t see your question here? Send us a message and we’ll be happy to answer you directly!
1. How can I guarantee my price of oil?
Oil prices depend strictly on our cost of oil on any specific day. Sometimes we can buy oil from our suppliers in advance at a certain price, and if we do we can offer that oil to our customers.
2. What is the advantage of the budget plan?
With our budget plan, we estimate your usage and spread your payments out evenly over the year so that you pay the same amount every month no matter how much or little oil you use.
3. Why do prices vary between oil companies so much?
Oil prices can vary in many ways. Some companies promise you the world but do not deliver when you need them. Some companies have one man that is both driver and serviceman, and they cannot deliver and service at the same time, so you have to wait for either service or oil. Some companies are COD or call in for oil with no service. Some do not carry the proper insurances needed in case they have an accident. Some do not hire properly trained and licensed personnel. Some don’t have trained personnel on-call 24 hours a day. Some don’t take steps to ensure the quality of the oil that they put in your oil tank. At Krall Oil, you can always expect competitive fuel pricing on top of plenty of full-service HVAC offerings, 24/7 service, and peace of mind you can count on each winter.
4. What kind of maintenance can I do to my heating system myself?
You can change air filters more often to maximize the efficiency of your heating system. You can check the water levels in a boiler to make sure that there is always water in the boiler. You can make sure objects are not blocking your registers, including draperies, bureaus, sofas, etc.
5. Can I change my own filters?
Yes. Just ask your Alpine Heating and Cooling technician to show you where they are located and we can either leave extra filters or you can purchase them at your local home improvement store. This will help keep your home clean and free of dust and other particles.
6. Can I add water myself?
Yes. Just ask our technician to show you how to do it properly.
7. Can I bleed my radiators?
Yes. If you are not getting enough heat or you hear water in your radiator, ask your Alpine Heating and Cooling technician how to do it properly. We can supply you with the proper radiator key to use.
8. What should the temperature be in my boiler or water heater?
Your water heater should usually be anywhere from 125 degrees to 140 degrees. Water at 130 degrees can be extremely hot. If you have small children or elderly people at home we recommend a temperature of less than 125 degrees.
9. Will a clock thermostat save me money on my oil bill?
Yes. However, we do recommend that you make the difference no greater than six degrees so that it’s not too difficult for your heating system to make up the heat loss.
10. What if I go away? What if my heat turns off?
We recommend that in the winter the house gets checked every day. If the temperature is below freezing outside and your heat should shut off, your pipes can freeze in a matter of hours. We do recommend temperature devices so that you can check your heat at no cost when you are away.
